The Library is supported by the Grossmont Healthcare District to meet the health information needs of local residents.
When faced with an illness or injury, patients, friends and family often seek access to the latest medical information from authoritative and reliable sources. The Herrick Library is a state-of-the-art hybrid library (offering both digital and physical access), designed to provide health information through books, journals, newsletters, pamphlets, videotapes, DVDs, models, charts, electronic media, website directories, and online computer databases.
The staff is trained to help users find materials to satisfy their health information needs. For those who want to find basic health information online and are confused where to start, click on MedlinePlus, then type your health term in the box at the top of the screen and click “Search MedlinePlus.”
The Herrick Library is a public library and offers many
free services. Library cards are issued with appropriate ID to community residents
as well as those who work, go to school, or have health-related ties to the
Grossmont Healthcare District. Other services, including free computer classes,
Internet access on 10 public computers, interlibrary loans, group meetings, etc.
are explained on the “General Library Information” page.
Disclaimer: The library provides public access to a wide range of health and medical information and is not a substitute for medical advice. You are advised to consult with your physician or other health care professional concerning specific questions or to obtain medical advice.
